How Can We Produce a Bunch of Fog for a Scary Scene Just in Time for Halloween? (vBeta)
COMING SOON - ANTICIPATED RELEASE DATE: SPRING 2018
This unit on the particulate nature of matter and kinetic molecular theory is grounded in students exploring the phenomenon of fog with an end goal of designing and building an affordable, safe fog machine. The desire to create fog motivates students to pursue investigations related to weather data and properties of air and water that help them build particle-level definitions of concepts related to temperature, pressure, and thermal energy. These understandings inform students' mechanistic explanation of how natural and artificial fog is formed which, in turn, informs their engineering designs.
